Sabung Ayam – KUALA LUMPUR: Thanks to the Apple app “Find My iPhone”, a Singaporean man was able to track and detain one of two men who had snatched his mother’s handbag, which had contained an iPhone.

The incident began at 3.30pm yesterday when the Singaporean family was in a car near Yayasan Tun Razak at Jalan Bukit Bintang.

Two men on a motorcycle suddenly appeared from behind and smashed the front passenger window.

One of them quickly snatched the woman’s handbag, a Hermes Birkin, before speeding off.

However, the thieves didn’t count on her son using the app to track the phone.

Thanks to the Apple app “Find My iPhone”, a Singaporean man was able to track and detain one of two men who had snatched his mother’s handbag, which had contained an iPhone.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainol Samah said the man had used the app to track down and eventually locate one of the suspects who had the phone in his possession.

Zainol said the suspect, in his 20s, was remanded for five days. The case has been classified as gang robbery.

The accomplice is still at large.

In an unrelated case, police arrested three people allegedly linked to several robbery cases in Kajang.

Kajang police chief ACP Willey Richard said police, acting on information, had stopped two people in a car at Desa Serdang, Kajang.

Upon examination, police found three parang in the trunk.

Based on information gleaned from the two, police then arrested another suspect.

“We believe that with the arrest, police have solved several robbery cases in Kajang involving these suspects,” Willey said.

Willey advised Kajang residents who plan to go on a holiday to inform the police at the nearest police station.
